# Can I choose the country where my data is backed up?

It depends on your hosting type and your plan. Here are the different cases.
### On standard plans

* **Web hosting**: your data is automatically backed up **out-of-country**, to a second data center. This location is part of the standard setup and can't be customized on demand.
* **Dedicated virtual server**: your data is backed up **in-country**, a choice designed to meet **compliance and regulatory requirements**, in particular the data-localization obligations that are developing across the continent.

### With the Managed DRP option (dedicated server)

If you subscribe to the [**Managed DRP**](https://hodi.host/store/pra-manage) option on a dedicated server, you move from a fixed location to a **real choice**: **you decide where your data is backed up**, based on your legal and operational constraints. This is especially useful if your industry requires a specific location, or if your replication strategy needs to meet a particular regulatory framework.
