Server Location Attestation: How to Get It and What It's For
What is a location attestation?
A location attestation is an official document issued by Hodi SAS that certifies the physical location of your server or web hosting. It specifies the exact datacenter where your data is hosted, including the precise infrastructure address.
What is this attestation used for?
This attestation serves several regulatory and business needs:
- GDPR and local law compliance: prove that your data is hosted in a specific country or jurisdiction, in accordance with data protection requirements.
- Tenders and public procurement: many tenders in Africa require proof of local hosting to ensure digital sovereignty.
- Industry requirements: certain sectors (banking, healthcare, telecommunications) mandate that data be hosted in-country or in-region.
- Audits and certifications: provide documented proof of your infrastructure location for audits.
- Contractual obligations: demonstrate to your own clients that their data is hosted at the agreed-upon location.
How to get your attestation
- Log in to your Hodi client area.
- Go to the details of the relevant service (web hosting or virtual server).
- In the sidebar menu, click Location attestation.
- The PDF document is automatically generated with your information and datacenter details.
How to verify an attestation's authenticity
Each attestation includes a QR code and a unique verification code. To verify that a document is authentic:
- Scan the QR code with your phone, or
- Visit www.hodi.host/attestation and enter the verification code.
The verification page confirms the attestation details (hostname, IP address, physical datacenter address).
Which services is it available for?
The attestation is available for all active services:
- Shared web hosting (Minisite, Site Pro, Cyber+, Archipel, VIP)
- Virtual servers (Linux VPS, Managed VPS)
Is the document renewed?
A new verification code is generated each day you download the attestation. Previous attestations remain verifiable online.
