How do I configure calendars and address books?

The CalDAV (for calendars) and CardDAV (for address books) protocols are open standards that let you sync your events and address books across multiple devices. With these protocols, you can view, add, or edit an appointment or contact from your phone, computer, or webmail, and see the changes appear everywhere in real time.

With cPanel, you can enable this synchronization for your email accounts using compatible applications such as iOS, macOS, and Thunderbird, or by adding plugins for Outlook and Android.

Compatible Applications and Required Plugins

Applications with Native CalDAV/CardDAV Support

• iOS (iPhone, iPad)
• macOS
• Thunderbird (Windows, Linux, and macOS)

These applications can connect directly to your cPanel account without any additional plugin.

Applications Requiring a Third-Party Plugin

Third-party plugins are not officially supported by cPanel. While our technical support can help you check that the plugin is configured correctly, we cannot investigate or escalate any issue related to their use.

• Microsoft Outlook (Windows): use the Outlook CalDAV Synchronizer plugin
• Android: use the DAVx⁵ app

Configuration

To configure your CalDAV/CardDAV account, you'll need the following information:

• Username: your full email address
• Password: your email account password
• Server URL: https://mail.mapetitentreprise.re:2080 (replace mapetitentreprise.re with your domain name)
• Alternate URL: https://mail.mapetitentreprise.re:2080/principals/utilisateur@mapetitentreprise.re/ (replace mapetitentreprise.re with your domain name and utilisateur@mapetitentreprise.re with your full email address)

Note: Some applications may not support automatic discovery. If the server URL doesn't work, use the alternate URL to work around this limitation.

Configuring iOS (iPhone / iPad)

1. Open Settings on your iOS device.
2. Go to Mail > Accounts > Add Account > Other.
3. Choose Add CalDAV Account or Add CardDAV Account.
4. Enter the login details mentioned above.
5. Tap Next, then Save.

Configuring macOS

1. Open System Settings, then Internet Accounts.
2. Click Add Account, then Add Other Account, and select CalDAV Account or CardDAV Account.

3. Choose Automatic and enter your email address and password.

4. If you run into issues, choose Manual.
5. Enter the login details mentioned above.
6. Click Sign In to complete setup.

Configuring Thunderbird

Adding a CalDAV Calendar

1. In Thunderbird, click the Calendar icon.
2. Click New Calendar > On the Network.
3. Enter the email address used.

4. Enter the password.

5. Select your calendar, then click Subscribe.

Adding a CardDAV Address Book

1. In Thunderbird, click the Address Book icon.
2. Select Add CardDAV Address Book.
3. Enter the login details mentioned above.
4. Finish the setup by naming the address book.

Configuring Microsoft Outlook with CalDAV Synchronizer

Microsoft Outlook does not natively support the CalDAV and CardDAV protocols. To sync your cPanel calendars and contacts, you can use the third-party Outlook CalDAV Synchronizer plugin.

1. Install the plugin: Download and install Outlook CalDAV Synchronizer. After installation, restart Outlook. A new "CalDAV Synchronizer" tab will appear in the ribbon.
2. Add a synchronization profile: Click "Synchronization Profiles", then the "+" button to add a new profile. Select "Generic CalDAV/CardDAV" and confirm.
3. Configure the profile with the login details mentioned above.
4. Test and save: Click "Test or discover settings", then "OK" if everything looks good.
5. Start syncing: Click "Synchronize Now".

Configuring Android with DAVx⁵

To sync your cPanel calendars and contacts on Android, use the DAVx⁵ app.

1. Install DAVx⁵: Download the app from the Google Play Store.
2. Add an account: Launch the app and tap "+" to add an account, then enter the login details mentioned above.
3. Automatic detection: DAVx⁵ will detect the available services (calendars and contacts).
4. Choose what to sync: Select the calendars and address books, then finish creating the account.
5. Enable syncing: Turn on automatic or manual synchronization based on your preferences.
