How do I get access to the Managed Firewall?

You subscribed to the Managed Firewall option when you purchased your VPS, but you can't find any direct access to configure it yourself? That's normal, and it's actually the whole point of this option. Here's why, and more importantly, how to get its configuration changed when you need to.

Why you don't have direct access

The whole principle of a managed firewall is that its management is handled entirely by our technical team, not by you.

Unlike a standard firewall that you'd configure and change freely from your server, this one is administered solely on our end.

This is a significant advantage for the security of your VPS. Access to a firewall that's too widely shared is precisely one of the main entry points for mishandling or compromise, a single misconfigured rule can be enough to expose your server. By centralizing its management on our side, we reduce this risk while making sure the configuration stays consistent and up to date over time.

How to get your configuration changed

Need to open a port, authorize a new IP address, or change an existing rule? Nothing could be simpler, just send us your request by email at technique@hodi.host, specifying the change you'd like (the port in question, the IP address to allow or remove, the service concerned, etc.). Our team will then apply the change for you.

Scheduling regular reviews with our team

Since you don't have direct visibility into the rules in place, we recommend scheduling periodic reviews of your configuration with us. It's a chance to review together which access is currently authorized, remove anything that's no longer needed (an old office IP address, a port temporarily opened for a test, etc.), and make sure everything still matches your actual needs.

These reviews are especially useful if your team changes over time, if your IP addresses change regularly, or if you add new services to your VPS as time goes on. A configuration that's never reviewed tends to accumulate outdated rules, which ends up needlessly widening your server's attack surface.
